How It Works

One-on-one net match play is NOT for the faint of heart. Any Questions?

Tap any round to see how it's played

32 players enter the event and are sorted into 4 flights by handicap. On Draft Night, eight teams are built via random draft. Each team gets one player from each flight so that every team has an A, B, C, and D player. The 8 teams are then randomly split into two sides of the bracket (4 on each side). Teams then battle against other teams on their side of the bracket in various match play formats to earn points for their team. The highest scoring team from each side of the bracket after three rounds will square off against the highest scoring team on the other side of the bracket in a final round mano-a-mano net match play round that is worth DOUBLE what any other round has been worth. All teams should have a chance to win the trophy on the final day with a four-man sweep. Is it a brutal format? Sure. Is it loads of fun? OH YEAH BUDDY!

02 · Formats & Handicaps

The Dots Fall Where They Lie.

Strokes are allocated by hole handicap rating. A 2-handicap gets one stroke on each of the two hardest holes. A 12-handicap gets a stroke on holes #1 through #12. Each round, the admin sets a percentage of each player's handicap that applies. Default is 100%, but it can be tuned to keep matchups competitive across formats. Current settings show up in your scorecard.

Round I · Fri Jul 31 · Scarecrow Course

2-Man Net Better Ball

Each player on a pair plays their own ball for all 18 holes. The lower net score on each hole between the two teammates counts for the team score for that hole. Your team wins the hole if your best net score beats the opponent pair's best net score on that hole. If your team is up by three points/holes and closes out the opponent on the 16th hole on the back, your final score would be "3 and 2" because you were up three holes with two holes left to play when you won the match.

Strategy

If your partner has already made a mess of a hole, it's all on you, so dial it back and make clean contact. If your partner is looking good on this hole, maybe you can play aggressive, or maybe you should play it safe in case he crumbles like amateur golfers do.

Round II · Sat Aug 1 AM · Gamble Sands Course

Select Drive Net Best Ball

Both players tee off. The team then selects the best drive and both players drop at that spot and play their own ball in from there. The better net score between the two counts for the hole. You get the best of both tee shots, then it plays like net better ball from there.

Strategy

The longer hitter should bomb it down the middle. The more accurate player should put it in a safe spot for the team. Once you've selected your team's tee shot, each player's independent game takes over. Stay positive, remain composed, or enter full panic mode... whichever suits your team's vibe the best.

Round III · Sat Aug 1 PM · Scarecrow Course

Net Scotch Foursome
(Alternate Shot)

Partners both tee off, select the best shot of the two, pick up the unselected ball and then share the selected ball for the rest of the hole alternating shots until the ball is holed. The result is only one score per team per hole.

Strategy

Knowing that the other player must hit the second shot, choose your drives carefully. One bad swing can leave your partner in an impossible spot, and ruin lifelong friendships.

⚠ Unique Rules

Penalty shots & alternation: If a ball is hit into a hazard or out of bounds, the penalty is assessed as normal — but it is still the other partner's turn to play the next shot. The penalty stroke does not count as that partner's turn. This is a true alternate-shot format with no exceptions.

Lost ball (not OB or hazard): If a ball is lost but did not go out of bounds and did not enter a marked hazard, the team can tie the hole or lose the hole — but they cannot win that hole regardless of their score.

Round IV · Sun Aug 2 · Gamble Sands Course

1-on-1 Net Match Play

Flight by flight, each player on your team goes head-to-head against the matching player on the opposing team. Win a hole, go 1-up. Lose a hole, go 1-down. Tied holes stay where they are. The player who wins the most holes wins the match. Up to 8 team points available on the final day.

Strategy

Match play is a mental game. Stay in your own lane. You only need to beat the player standing next to you, not the whole field. If you're already up a few holes, play conservative and make your opponent beat you. If you're down, start taking intelligent risks. Grinding out halves keeps the match alive.

⚠ Unique Rules

Wrong ball: If you hit the wrong ball at any point on a hole, you automatically forfeit that hole — no exceptions, no mulligans.

Lost ball (not OB or hazard): If your ball is lost but did not go out of bounds and did not enter a marked hazard, you can tie the hole or lose the hole — but you cannot win that hole regardless of your score.

03 · Round IV

The Bracket Final.

After three rounds, every team has a point total. Top team from Side A plays top from Side B, 2nd plays 2nd, etc... four team-matches total. Each individual match worth 2 pts. Win = 2, tie = 1. Up to 8 pts per team-match on the final day. Highest cumulative total wins FUFA.
